Visiting Reno and want to know what to do in September? Look no further! Here are two very large events happening near Reno this September!
Burning Man: Who hasn’t heard of Burning Man? This event goes August 30th through September 7th. But did you know the event in the Black Rock Desert is only 3 hours from Reno. But, remember to pack plenty of water and food because you are among 60,000 other people going to this and a 3 hour drive from Reno can get pretty backed up when you are entering that part of Burning Man.
This event brings artists and art lovers from all over the globe in an event some call spiritual. It takes its name from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy, which is set alight on Saturday evening. You are in the middle of the desert, surrounded by thousands of people, but you are certainly in the middle of nowhere. During Burning Man, the population size of this event actually makes it the third largest city in Nevada during the week. Talk about crazy!
Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off: America’s biggest and best free rib festival is September 2nd through the 7th. This is actually the 27th annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off in Reno. That is huge!
This happens on Victorian Avenue, 8 minutes from Reno, and you can smell the smoky flavor from miles around! The Rib Cook-Off pulls in rib vendors from all over as they compete for the title of best rib recipes! There are arts and crafts, vendors, music, oh and don’t forget, there are ribs! Vegetarian? No worries! If you can handle watching others partake in meat-eating, there are many vendors who serve other food items that are just as delicious.
As you can see, September attracts some pretty big events. Are you involved in any of these?
